An Eventful Day

We managed to cram a lot of activity into one day, in part to make the most of the incredible weather. Here's a quick recap:
  • Surprised Grandma & Grandpa K at the airport during their layover early this morning (Aloha!);
  • School, work, and daycare, respectively;
  • Played outside to soak up the 65 degree sunshine after work/school;
  • Dinner and then swim class where Cecilia passed her current level with flying colors;
  • Topped it all off with celebratory ice cream at Izzy's.
I think everyone is a little tired now, but all in all it was a very busy but satisfying day!

Attagirl.

Momlissa got a call at work today from Ruby's daycare provider, who told us that for the first time ever, two kids at her daycare had gotten into a dispute that she had no answer for.

One of the kids was Ruby, and the dispute was about whether two girls could get married to each other.

Guess which position she took.

Rube-Speak.

[Ruby has just discovered that one of her friends at daycare has the same birthday.]

Ruby: Dad!

Dadam: What?

Ruby: Guess what!

Dadam: What, Ruby?

Ruby: Elly and I were born on exactly the same AGE!

Grammar Lessons.

[Dadam is dropping Ruby off at daycare, and we see another kid's mother dropping him off at the same time.]

Ruby [looking at the mother]: Who's her?

Dadam: What?

Ruby: Who's her?

Dadam [correcting her]: "Who's she."

Ruby [very slowly, as if if speaking to a moron]: She's Elijah's mom.

Meet Cholaidia. R.I.P.

For the past month or so, Ruby has been talking about her new imaginary friend, Cholaidia. (It's pronounced "collide-ia.")

Every day, Ruby comes home from daycare with stories of Cholaidia and her amazing adventures. It's a little creepy, though - well, imaginary friends are always a little weird and spooky, I suppose, but what makes the Cholaidia relationship especially odd is that Cholaidia often doesn't survive the stories about her.

So far, we've heard about how Cholaidia . . .

  1. Climbed a tree and went riding on the back of a bird, but fell off the bird and died;

  2. Went poop on the potty, but then opened up the potty before flushing, ate the poop, had to wear a diaper again, and died (our personal favorite); and

  3. Went swimming in the lake, where a shark came up behind her and bit her (oddly, she actually survived this incident).

In fact, Cici will often ask Ruby, "How is Cholaidia today?" and the cheerful response she usually gets is "Oh, she's still dead."

Update: This is from about two minutes ago.

Momlissa: Ruby, what did Cholaidia do yesterday?

Ruby: Oh, she spilled her chocolate milk, and her mommy had to clean it up with a paper towel.

Dadam: Oh, well, that was nice of her mommy.

Ruby: Yeah.

Cici: Is she alive?

Ruby: No. She's dead.

God Bless You, Cici.

Ruby: Hi, I'm Hannah Montana! Hi, I'm Hannah Montana!

Dadam: Ruby, where did you learn that?

Ruby: At daycare.

Cici: What is she saying?

Dadam: She said, 'Hi, I'm Hannah Montana.'

Cici: Who's Hannah Montana?
