Cutie-head's "Injury"

Recently Cutie-head suffered a terrible injury and had to take an emergency trip to the vet. She was diagnosed with "reddish-pink marker on the front leg" syndrome. Also, Ruby is the vet.

According to Ruby, it was necessary to color Cutie-head to make their vet role-playing scenario all the more realistic.

Sorry, Ruby.

A great Ruby quote for spring: "It's snowing today and so CHRISTMAS MUST BE COMING SOON!!!"

The Judges Have Their Scores!

Our girls have been major Dancing with the Stars fans for several seasons now; in fact, we all like the show more than I ever would have guessed we would. Tonight Cici was even writing out her own suggestions for the contestants; here's what I found in the notebook she was writing in while watching:

Dancing with the stars
  • Realy Dance
  • Don't be Lazy when you Dance
  • Don't look down whene Dancing
  • Dance good not bad

A gift.

This morning we attended Cecilia's school conference and were delighted by her report card. She is reading at a 4th grade level, doing 2nd grade math, and kicking butt in general. I know my daughter, and I wasn't surprised by any of this information, especially because we see how hard she works on her homework and her "at home" projects for school. What moved me the most, though, was what her teacher said about the kind of person Cecilia is at school. That she is kind and fair to her classmates, she is friends with everyone, and she is a happy kid.

Being her mother has been my greatest joy, and this morning's conference was a good reminder of just how special she is.

An Eventful Day

We managed to cram a lot of activity into one day, in part to make the most of the incredible weather. Here's a quick recap:
  • Surprised Grandma & Grandpa K at the airport during their layover early this morning (Aloha!);
  • School, work, and daycare, respectively;
  • Played outside to soak up the 65 degree sunshine after work/school;
  • Dinner and then swim class where Cecilia passed her current level with flying colors;
  • Topped it all off with celebratory ice cream at Izzy's.
I think everyone is a little tired now, but all in all it was a very busy but satisfying day!

Old-School Instant Messaging.

Or as we called it when I was in school, "passing notes." Here's the silent conversation Cecilia and Momlissa had earlier today.

CK: Mom what are you doing on the computer? From: Cici

MMS: Cecilia, Looking at recipes for Anika. What are you doing? Love, Mom

CK: I'm writing to you silly.

MMS: You're too funny! Love you!

CK: Why are you looking at recipes for anika?

MMS: Because her mom (Grandma S------) doesn't know what to cook. IT'S TIME FOR SWIM CLASS!!!!

CK: fine Don't yell like that okay!!!!!!!

a Cat On A Cold Shingle Roof.

Some of you have heard by now about our big adventure yesterday. I'll let Cici tell the story.

First Rubester-ism Of The Month.

Geez, March is almost half over and we haven't posted a thing. Well, it's been a busy week. Here's a little Rubester-ism to tide you over.

[Ruby has finished wolfing her spicy Asian noodles at dinner.]

Ruby: More, please.

Momlissa: Ruby, you like these that much? Even though they're spicy?

Ruby: Yeah, I like spicy stuff. And I like Halloween.
